The Lord’s Prayer: Week 2 – Thursday

WELCOME! If you’re new and just joining us, start here — if not, read below…

Week 2 – Thursday

SCRIPTURE
Romans 8:38-39 NIV  “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

REFLECT
God IS love.  There is nothing that can separate us from God and His unconditional love for us. Nothing — No-thing.  However, WE may choose to put things before Him.  When we allow material possessions, or people, or works, or anything to take priority in our lives, WE create “blockage” between God and us.  This “blockage” prevents US from feeling God’s love and goodness.  He is unchanging, He is still there, He will never let go, He will hold onto us forever.  It is US that needs to draw near to Him.  Is there blockage in your life today that is stopping you from experiencing God’s love?  If so, what action can you take today towards Him?

We invite you to share your insights and thoughts by leaving a comment below or by replying to another comment.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

    HE is SOOOOO amazing…SO sweet….Here’s my reflection…

S: Romans 8:38-39 NIV “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

O: This is SO big…It’s hard to wrap my arms around. NOTHING separates Him from loving me. All my shortcomings, all my mistakes, my disobedience, pride, ego, selfishness — none of that makes Him love me less AND none of this distances HIM from me. He is everywhere with me, He loves me, nothing will change that — It is a gift that I must receive and embrace.

A: I know that no amount of work that I do will make Him love me more. I cannot earn His love. However, I must accept and receive His love. To do this I need to love me. When I love who I am, I can embrace and experience Him. It’s one thing to know this in your head, and another to feel His love in our hearts and see Him love us daily.

P: Father, I do not deserve Your love, I am a sinner, I make mistakes. At times, I think wrong thoughts, I say things that are not nice, I’m selfish. Thank You for remaining consistent to me. Thank you for showing me the Truth in these verses. The more I draw near to You the more I grasp Your nature. You are my rock, my foundation. When I focus on You, it is solid and firm. Thank you for the grace and forgiveness you offer to me just because You created me. I receive it today Father. I love You. I need You ALONE! I know You will show up this weekend in a might way. Open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, my heart to know Your will and plan. Speak through me as I speak and teach. Shine through me as I meet other women from across the country. Thank you for this opportunity to draw near to you. We are a winning team, I know You are with me every step I take. Thank You. I love you. t

O: “Nothing.” The word is so all-encompassing! We are His, He is ours – Forever. Our relationships this side of Heaven come and go, but our relationship with our Heavenly Father isn’t going anywhere. He guards it and keeps it safe.

A: This love is unconditional; nothing I can do will mess it up. NOTHING. I don’t want to use this awesome reality as an excuse to live however I want. How much more so should I love Him and obey Him and honor Him. He’s given me so much, my heart throb should be to give back to Him.

P: Heavenly Father, I am overwhelmed with your love and goodness toward me. Thank you for choosing to love unconditionally a dirty rotten sinner like me. Nothing I can do would come close to meriting Your love, but Your grace has covered all of my shortcomings. Help me to accept that. Help me to fully lean on You and Your grace. Help me accept your love.

    • Teri says:

He guards it and keeps it safe <– YES HE DOES!! love that statement. =) I agree, we cannot use this as an excuse to live however we “want” to — lets lean into Him, embrace and receive this amazing Love and experience the promise-land life here on earth!!

Romans 8:38-39 NIV “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

    O
what an amazing truth this is. God loves us unconditionally…He loves ‘me’ with all my flaws. there is nothing i can do to make him ‘leave’. there is no where i can go that He will not know where to find me. what a thought. in a world where love is so conditional, and people come and go in and out of each others lives…He is a constant companion. seeking ME out.

    A
I yearn to give back to him all that i can. ‘all of myself’. i know i allow the busy-ness of my days to take priority over my time with Him, and i always live to regret it. those are the days when i struggle and rely on my own strength. I want to keep nothing between Him and i.

    P
Abba father, thank you for this amazing, unconditional love that you give me. help me to know it and keep it in my heart….always. help me to tap into it when i am having a low day and i feeling abandoned. i know that you will never leave me and there is no where i can hide or run from your unconditional love. thank you for that Jesus…i love you. xo

    • Teri says:

Our constant companion…constant…solid…unshakable. I’m in agreement Shelbi…help me Father to tap into Your love when I’m feeling abandoned and lonely.

  4. Terry says:

S: “”And I am convinced that nothing can ever seperate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can seperate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or the earth below-indeed nothing in all creation will ever be able to seperate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8: 38, 39

O: That word nothing is the key word. And it is a wonderful word in this context. But the other important piece on the end…revealed in Christ. If we do not have Christ, then we have to question if we have ownership of God’s love. It is still there of course…but without Christ, the saddest and more horrific consequence is the seperation from God’s love.

A: I am thankful for his love, and thankful it is mine, always, for all eternity. Nothing will seperate me. But I worry for those who will suffer these consequences. I want them to see that love I have, and I want them to want it as well.

P: Father, thank you for a love that is with me always. Help me to let others see this love in me. Help me to love with your love. Thank you Father.

    • Teri says:

Thank you for pointing that out Terry…Christ bridges the gap for us. Love your prayer…help me to love with Your love. I desire the same. That others would see Christ through me.
