Week 7 – Wednesday

SCRIPTURE
Ephesians 6:13-15 ESV “Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.”

REFLECT
We’re reminded again that we must take up the entire armor of God to win. Our first piece is our belt. The belt holds everything together. Without it, the robes the warriors wore in that day was insecure. So it is with TRUTH. We must know our Truth, and be secure in it. When we are tempted and tried, we don’t even stand a chance without our God-given Truth. The second piece, the breastplate, guards the heart and other vital organs. Our heart is to be kept by righteousness – we must make sure there is not blockage between us and God. He is our Source of strength, we can’t have our strength inhibited by our own unrighteousness. The third piece, our shoes, help us get to where we’re supposed to be to do what we’re supposed to do. We must always be ready to go for it. We must be ready to tell those in need what we have – the TRUTH. Reexamine your Truth. Are you confident in it? Is there a blockage between you and your heavenly Father? If so, take the time and call out to Him. Restore complete and perfect fellowship with your Abba.

We invite you to share your insights and thoughts by leaving a comment below or by replying to another comment.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

O: I just really love how the Message version communicates these verses –> Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.<– We MUST depend on God’s strength.

A: Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than just words — that struck a cord in my heart. So often we read scripture and don’t really understand how to practically apply things into our lives. If these are more than just words, what does that look like for me, in my daily life? I need HIM 100% completely — I need HIS strength to carry me through each and every day. I can feel my life sliding backwards when I am not keeping my eyes on HIM every morning.

P: Father, I can’t fight this fight without You — I need to equip myself every morning, putting on the FULL armor that You have available for me. Thank You for graciously bringing me back to a place where I realize I need You and You alone. Forgive me for “forgetting” about You and Your plan at times. My flesh and my humanness rises up and it does NOT look pretty. When I fight, I am weary — when I allow You to live and move — I find peace and joy, You are my strength — together we can shine. With You I can be the wife You want me to be. With You I can be the mom You want me to be. With You I can be the friend, writer, coach, speaker. Father, lead me today — each conversation, each action, each thought. I surrender to You and embrace Your plan, the perfect plan for me. You know my appointments today Father — may I be a light and walk the road You have set out for me. I love YOU — I have YOU — The armor. Love, t
