The Lord’s Prayer: Week 7 – Tuesday

WELCOME! If you’re new and just joining us, start here — if not, read below…

Week 7 – Tuesday

Ephesians 6:11-12 ESV “Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

God is the Source of our strength. He has offered His armor freely, but He can’t make us take it. It is up to us to actually put it on. It’s interesting that Paul emphasizes we are to put on the WHOLE armor if we are to be effective. We can’t pick and choose which part of Christianity is convenient for us and expect to thrive in our Christian walk. It is an all or nothing commitment. We do well to realize that we are not “fighting” against men – it is not our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who are tempting us and deceiving us. We are up against a much fiercer enemy, an enemy who hates God and wants your heart. We can’t even begin to fight in and of ourselves, we need our Father. We need His armor, all of it.  Spend some extra time before the throne of grace today; ask God to show you the strength that is yours and commit to wear His armor.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.
