Week 6 – Tuesday

SCRIPTURE
Hebrews 4:16 NIV  ”Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

REFLECT
Sin separates us from God – unforgiveness is sin.  Holding on to anger, resentment, and bitterness keeps us from living lives of joy.  When there is blockage between God, and us we cannot experience the “promise-land” living offered through His grace and mercy.  When we accept Christ into our hearts, we are accepting His example of living.  Our primary goal is to draw near to God – we do this by getting to know and understand Christ’s character.   Lay your list before the throne of grace with confidence and ask your Father to help you forgive.  We alone are not capable of forgiving, but through Christ and the strength He offers, we can.  Will you take the next step towards forgiveness?  Can you ask God for the willingness to forgive everyone and everything thing on your list?

We invite you to share your insights and thoughts by leaving a comment below or by replying to another comment.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

S: Hebrews 4:16 NIV ”Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

O: Our approach to God is through prayer — we must go in confidence, understanding what He is capable of. We must be mindful of what we say and how we say it. Entering His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts, entering His gates with praise. His desire is to help us through our time of need. His desire is to give us the strength to carry-on and be who He wants us to be. His desire is for us to find joy and restoration in our hearts for our wounds.

A: I need to approach Him for ALL things and with ALL things in a sincere yet confident way. Nothing is too small and nothing is too big. As it is with working through any situation where we need His help, like with forgiveness — or His help to maintain a positive attitude — or to see the good in a situation that seems horrible — or to help us to be willing to do what His will is for our lives. We are to approach the throne will ALL request. We come before Him because He is our King, but also because He is our counselor and our friend.

P: Father, I stand amazed so often as I see You working in the lives of many. Thank You AGAIN for Your attention to every detail, I’m seeing You everywhere — You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thank You for allowing me to approach the throne with confidence so that I can receive mercy and find grace to help me in my time of need. I need You to reveal to me anything that is separating me from You — open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my heart to know. I may sound like a broker record, but I need the blinders off in all areas to “get-it” — take my blinders off Father, I am willing to do whatever it takes. What sin is blocking me from you? Show me. Give me strength today as I am weary. Give me peace as I am restless and overwhelmed with the demands I’m facing today. Give me enough today to shine. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. You alone are worthy to be praised! I am nothing without You and everything because of You. I need you. love t

S: Hebrews 4:16 NIV ”Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
O: His is the throne of GRACE. He expects us to need grace. We’re not supposed to have “all our ducks in a row” because He knows we aren’t able. He wants us to come before Him with our shortcomings in CONFIDENCE. We don’t have to be ashamed because we aren’t perfect. He created us, He knows we are but dust, and He gives His amazing grace to complete us and fill in our gaps. We are to bring our needs, all of them, before the throne. It is there and only there that our needs will be met.
A: I need to live CONFIDENT. I have the King of kings and Lord of Lord’s as my Father. He longs for me to lay my needs, my wants, my scary situations, my overwhelming responsibilities at His feet and ask for His mercy and grace. I need to shed the laziness that keeps me from experiencing this amazing grace, and make prayer and communion with Him a recurring part of my day.
P: Father, thank you for You. Thank you for allowing me to have access to your throne of grace. Help me to ask, help me to seek You. I need You everyday, and especially today. I’m feeling overwhelmed, Lord, but You already know that. I’m feeling inadequate and unprepared, but You have promised to extend mercy to my shortcomings. I’m feeling scared, but You are not the Author of fear….I’m asking you with boldness today, Father, help me live today for your glory. Thank you for what You will do…
