Week 5 – Friday

Matthew 6:34 NKJV “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day [is] its own trouble.”

Don’t worry. It’s an imperative command. As women especially, we like security. We like to know what’s happening tomorrow and the day after that and in the next 10 years. We like to find our security in knowing what’s around the corner. Here Jesus is calling His children to find security in Him. He’s given us today to live and succeed for Him. We have enough joys and trials and distractions to fill today, bringing tomorrow’s line-up into today’s only muddles our minds. He’s got it. He’s in control. He’s sovereign. We must trust and obey.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

O: There is a BIG difference between “planning” for tomorrow vs. “worrying” about tomorrow. When we plan, we think about goals, steps, and trust in God’s guidance. Worry is consumed by fear, eliminating God from our equation. The verse BEFORE this verse is, “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. SO similar in my eyes to Give us this day our daily bread. We are going to Him to provide each need. Each breath, each thought, each direction to take, seeking Him to supply whatever it is that we need to make it through this one day — trusting Him with our tomorrows.

A: Plan — don’t worry. Walk with God fully a part of my equation — that gives me promise and hope. When I feel anxious, fearful, or when I start to worry, that is my trigger to ask myself, where is God? If I’m trusting God, I will have no fear. He is faithful to me every need down to the most intimate detail. What a promising truth to embrace.

P: Father, again I am reminder who You ARE! With You all things are possible — with You I have no fear — with You we can meet each day head on because You are giving me everything thing I need and have equipped me to do so. I receive all You have for me today — I embrace every encounter, every activity, every conversation with You. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for Your promises. Forgive me when I attempt to walk without you — it never looks pretty. Thank You for the free gift of grace and Your patience as I learn and grow. Bring on today — I am fully relying upon You!! I love you! t
