Week 4 – Tuesday

SCRIPTURE
Genesis 1:27 NIV “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

REFLECT
We are each uniquely valuable to God, our Father.  When we ask Him in this prayer, “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done,” we are asking Him to show us His plan and purpose for our lives.  We are all members of His body, brothers and sisters through Him – created in His image.  His will for each of us looks different – but, each “part” is extremely important.  Your life, and the plan God has for you is significant.  He is pleased with how He made you and has equipped you to do His will.  Have you identified your purpose in life, His will and plan?  Are you embracing the gifts that He has hand picked special for you?  How are you living out His will for you in your daily life?

We invite you to share your insights and thoughts by leaving a comment below or by replying to another comment.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

S: Genesis 1:27 NIV “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

O: This verse again simply show’s who’s we are…we were created by God in His likeness — each unique and different possessing different character traits and gifts. Because of this, we are a part of Him, and we each have a calling and purpose on our life. He gave us free will to choose His and to decide to have a relationship with Him – to seek Him and His plan for our lives. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven is asking God to reside within us, have His will and purpose manifest in our lives, in our hearts, in our minds, in our relationships, in every aspect of our lives as He would have it in Heaven.

A: I choose to live closely to my created and discover His plan, will, and purpose for me! He created me to serve Him and to carry out specific things here on earth that would glorify Him and impact His kingdom — I want to be an active member of His body doing my part, obedient. Walking daily with Him is the only way that I’ve found to know which steps I should take. He is my Source, I want to drawn everything from my creator, my provider. Him alone.

P: Father, there is none like You!! I know that — I’ve searched and clung onto others and things in my past, hoping to have something solid to hang onto, but everything failed me or left me hurt, wounded, disappointed. Thank You for choosing me, for creating me, and for revealing to me daily Your will and plan for my life. I love the path I am on with You — there is no place I would rather be. Today as I live my life, I ask that you direct my thinking, my words, and my actions. You know who I am with and what words she needs to hear. May my words be invisible so your words are visible. May she see Your love through me. Shine Father like you always do, show up — I expect to see you in everything. Guide me as I parent — You know every detail of my children’s lives, every thought, hurt, need, and desire. Equip me to lead them how You want them led. I cannot do this without You — their lives are too important to rest solely with me, I am desperate for your will to be done not only in my life but in their lives as well. Forgive me when I’m short tempered and impatient. I want to produce Your “fruit” in all all my relationships and in all areas of my life. Love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control, patience — I love You — thank you in advance for what you are doing today! Love you! t

  2. Rebekah says:

S: Genesis 1:27 NIV “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

O: My identity. HE created me and fashioned me specifically for His glory. His expectations are the only ones that matter. His plan is the only perfect one for me. He has given me His Image — what a gift! I’m a female, not a male on PURPOSE. I’m physically the way I am on PURPOSE. He chose how I am to be and I am perfect in His eyes.

A: I don’t want to disappoint Him. He made me perfect and has a perfect plan, and I don’t want to show discontentment with that. I want to be thankful and cooperative with what He desires. He lives in me, He’s there always, this should be a comfort not an annoyance. I want to make Him proud every second of every day. I’m His creation, His pride and joy.

P: Father, Creator, my LORD and Savior, I come before you this morning in awe of the fact that you chose to make me. You chose every facet of my existence, and for that I am thankful. Thank you for caring enough to customize my life according to what You know I can handle in Your strength. Help me to only strive to meet Your expectations. “You are the One that I praise, You are the ONE I adore. You
You give the healing and grace our hearts always hunger for.” I love You, help me love You more…
