Week 4 – Thursday

SCRIPTURE
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

REFLECT
His plans for us are for good.  He knows what He’s doing, He’s got it ALL planned out for us.  We need to do our part, tap into it, take action with it, and maintain an attitude of willingness to live out His plan.  How do we know what His plan is?  How can we discover His plan for our lives?  We can consistently ask him to open our eyes to see, our ears to hear, and our heart to know what His will is for our lives.   It’s that simple – yet something we need to intentionally pursue as we discussed yesterday.  Do you believe that His plans for you are to prosper you and not to harm you?  Do you have faith that by walking in His will, He will give you hope and a future?  Are you open to seeing what He has in store for you?  Are you willing to take action with what He reveals?

We invite you to share your insights and thoughts by leaving a comment below or by replying to another comment.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

a favorite Promise from our Father above, which i cling to almost every day. it’s amazing how so many times in my life, trials have come and out of my human heart, i shrink back in fear. And then I cry out to God for my comfort, and this is the verse i hear….we can rest in this; no matter what trials we face, we have His promise that it is for our good. my pastor did a study on the word ‘good’ in this verse. He explained that in the greek language they have two words for ‘good’, one meaning inner good and one meaning outer good. this one here is for the meaning ‘inner good’. God is telling us that all things work out for us in ways that change us for the bettter. trials – if we allow them to not jade us, actually make us sweeter…not bitter. with God this is possible.

Over the course of my walk as a believer, i have so many times fought against ‘bad things happening’ – i fear a lot. I worry and fret over ‘tomorrow’ and this and that, etc. I want to stop this madness….i want to be strong in my faith and KNOW and BELIEVE that God is in full control, even though it all feels out of control. I want to immediately apply this scripture to my head and my heart and trust….

Father God, thank you for giving us your promises to cling to in this life. I pray that you forgive me for my lack of belief all those times. I know you are a GOOD GOD and that i can trust you in all things. You have my life in your hands and all the trials that i face, i can be rest assured that you love me and work all things out for my good…i love you father….xo

I love this verse and the promises of God! The verses following it show me my responsibility -…call….come….pray….seek…..with my whole heart! It fits so well with yesterdays verses, to ask, seek and knock. And that’s a constant, persistent asking, seeking, knocking as I seek God’s will for my life. The fact that God has a hope & a future for me just fills me with joy, and I need to remember that when I may be filled with doubts or struggles. These are just a few of my thoughts that I journaled this morning. This study has been such a huge blessing. Thank you!
