Week 4 – Friday

SCRIPTURE
Proverbs 18:15 ESV “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”

REFLECT
To understand how He would have it, His will “in earth as it is in heaven” we must continue to ask for knowledge, patience, wisdom, love, and understanding.  As we draw near to Him, He will come close to us.  We gain wisdom through a constant process of growing.  How do we develop a personal relationship with our Father?  We read His word.  We don’t develop all aspects of wisdom at once, but we take steps each day to develop this in our lives.  How can you know your Father, God in a more personal way?  What action can you take to gain knowledge and understanding?

We invite you to share your insights and thoughts by leaving a comment below or by replying to another comment.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

S: Proverbs 18:15 ESV “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”

O: Knowledge is key. Gathering information, gaining a personal understanding is something we need to go after. I like how the word heart is used — it’s one thing to know something in our head, but to allow it to make that 12 inch drop to our heart where we truly are accepting of it is completely different. For us to take purposeful action, we must have the desire, personally, within ourselves — not be motivated for external reasons. If we don’t have knowledge, we have ignorance. If we are not intelligent, we are foolish.

A: I desire an intelligent heart — seeking knowledge of God’s will for my life. period!! I want to go only where He wants me to go. Do only what He’s called me to do. Respond only how He would have me respond. Each day — I look for Him, I look for a better understanding. I look for truth, and seek knowledge. The more I learn and grow, the less judgmental I am. When I come to understand new things, I have more compassion and more love to share and give away. I love this scripture — it’s such a great reminder of what God wants us to do…keep growing, keep learning, keep becoming <– that’s wise.

S: Father, it’s been a rough week — I am empty physically, I have not been feeling well. Today I claim a healing touch from You — You are my strength and shield. You alone can fill my empty cup. Thank You for giving me enough to do what I had to do. I only want, YOUR Kingdom to come and YOUR will to be done in my life, in my heart, in my mind, in my family, in my relationships, in my book, in KIP, in every fine detail of my life. With YOU I have purpose and meaning, without YOU I am an empty vessel. Thank you in advance for showing up today in a BIG way!! You know exactly what I have on my plate — You have a plan on how it will all work out — show me where You want me to go and what You want me to do. Forgive me for doubting and for thinking that I needed to try to figure this out on my own. I’m sorry — I need You. Love you. T

S: Proverbs 18:15 ESV “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”

O: KNOWLEDGE!!! Can we ever get enough? Yet, THIS knowledge surpasses all other. This knowledge is pure and perfect, and ours for the taking.

A: I crave knowledge. I love to learn. But, I don’t want knowledge that is empty, without real purpose or point. I want to CRAVE the knowledge He will give if I am open and ask and seek. He’s written me a Letter, an entire BOOK for me to learn all He wants to teach. It’s personal, it’s for ME, and it is a knowledge that has POWER and purpose.

P: Father, thank you for being the Author of all wisdom and knowledge. Thank you for choosing to write your Letter with me in mind. Help me to ask and seek and find all you would have me to know of YOU. “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”
