The Lord’s Prayer: Week 2 – Tuesday

WELCOME! If you’re new and just joining us, start here — if not, read below…

Week 2 – Tuesday

SCRIPTURE
John 14:1-3 NIV “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me; in my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.

REFLECT
Here Jesus is comforting those that would be left behind on earth (his disciples, etc.) when He went back to Heaven after completing the task He had come to earth to accomplish. Here He is encouraging them (and US!) that He is preparing an eternal home for us. He, right now, is with the Father, our Father. We have a future! Our future is all planned out and we can TRUST! We must CHOOSE to put our trust in God, in His Son Jesus, the physical representation of our Father, that He is up in Heaven holding us in the palm of His hand and He has a perfect plan for our lives both temporal and eternal.  Do you believe Heaven is for real?  Are you confident this is the place you will go and reside for eternity?  If not, talk to God, your loving Father about this.  Ask Him to reveal His truth to you about eternity.

We invite you to share your insights and thoughts by leaving a comment below or by replying to another comment.

If you would like, you can unpack the verse S.O.A.P style:
S = Scripture; what is it that I’m reflecting upon.
O = Observation; what does this mean to me, what do I notice?  What got my attention? Can I rephrase this in my own words?
A = Application; how can I apply this into my life?  What action can I take as a result of what I just learned
P = Prayer; based on what I’ve learned and my application/action, pray – talk to God about your insight, ask for help, offer thanksgiving.

    My thoughts this morning…

S: John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me; in my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.

O: Have no fear. There is a place {Heaven} that is being prepared for us –> I cannot W-A-I-T to get there!! <– That’s OUR FATHER’s house. That’s where God lives. We will live there with Him if we accept ‘The Way’ which is through Jesus, who I speaking in this verse. “Trust God, ALSO in Me” {Jesus} — He is the way. He states in the next verse, verse 4, “You know the way to the place where I am going.” He says THE way, not way(s) — there is ONLY ONE way, and that’s through Him to get to heaven, His Father’s house.

A: Don’t let your hearts be troubled — have no fear of the future, of tomorrow. Yesterday’s scripture we learn He’s everywhere omnipresent, today we see God’s in heaven preparing a place. He’s got all the bases covered. Our today, our tomorrow, our life after death. We have nothing to be anxious about, to worry about.

P: Father, there is no doubt in my mind that You love me, that Your plans for me are for good. That Your plans are for me to prosper and live a life abundantly filled with JOY and Peace, for me to experience heaven on earth — there is no doubt — Your word speaks to me, I hear Your promises and in my “mind” I know. Forgive me when I doubt in my heart. When I feel overwhelmed by this life here on earth, when my children are disrespectful, when things seem unfair, when others do things that I would not, when I’m hurting, forgive me for taking my heart off of You and for trying to find solutions on my own. You revealed Yourself AGAIN to me last night with an answer to prayer, keep my eyes open Father to see You. Keep my ears open to hear you when you speak to me through others or situations or life or emails like you did last night. Keep my heart open to know your will for my life, show me how to lead in the areas you’ve called me to lead. I need You desperately. Show me how to parent my little nuggets. Show me how to love my husband. I know The Way, I embrace the character. May I be a light in my world that others may see Him, You in me, through me. Thank You. I love You. T

Shelbi, I too want to apply this knowledge by trusting in HIM and not my circumstances. CONSISTENTLY <– so difficult at times when the life “mountain” seems so big, so unknown, so significant. Our future IS SECURE IN HIM — lets keep reminding each other of the truth sister, we will be together in eternity FOREVER! xo
