Is Summer Over Yet?

{Photo 228/365}  Today the boys had a friend over; FUN!  They played hockey, rode bikes, swam briefly in the pool, played some video games, and sat in the jacuzzi.  Between doing laundry and getting things done around the house, I made them lunch and played referee with my two nuggets.  We are approaching the time in the summer when EVERYONE has had enough of EACH OTHER.  I am SOOOOO ready for school to S T A R T {in a really loving, nurturing, motherly way, of course} I’m craving structure and a consistent schedule.  I LOVE summer, B U T… calgon take me away!

Things That Bring You Back

{Photo 208/365}  Do you see the seven signature “squiggles” – the white loops of frosting under his fingers?  He’s biting into a Hostess CupCake — you know the yummy chocolate ones that are individually packaged with vanilla-crème filling.  This brought me back to my childhood.  I can remember loving these and eating way too many growing up.  My dad would frequent the local Hostess outlet store near our home and stock up on these, other Hostess goodies, and bread.  I love moments like this that bring bright memories to mind, I think that happens when I slow down enough to see them.  This week has been a full week of summer activities, but within it’s “fullness” we are embracing our time together.  Today was a great day. sweet memories.

Grilling

{Photo 178/365}  We haven’t grilled out in forever!  He loves helping out, I get it all ready and he manages the grill while watching the boys swim.  Tonight, I didn’t do such a great job preparing; my burgers fell apart.  I make “meatloaf” style burgers and today, they were missing something that made ‘em stick.  So, we ended up throwing on some steaks at the last minute.  Oh well,  I did my best.  The side dish of potatoes, carrots, and onions were a hit, so that made up for the hopeless burgers.  Love family time and grilling in the summer.  Love my husband.  appreciate him.
