Jesus Calling

{Photo 312/365}  Ok, so I picked up this little book when I was at the Relevant Conference a couple of weeks ago –> Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence <– I love, love, love it!  I’ve been reading it each morning, the messages are speaking directly to my heart.  The tag line…enjoying peace in His presence…is what I’m experiencing — peace in His presence.  This is the little piece of “fresh-ness” that I needed to add to my quiet time.  Today’s message was powerful.

“Learn to appreciate difficult days.  Be stimulated by the challenges you encounter along your way.  As you journey through rough terrain with Me, gain confidence from your knowledge that together we can handle anything.  This knowledge is comprised of three parts: your relationship with Me, promises in the Bible, and past experiences of coping successfully during hard times.

Look back on your life, and see how I have helped you through difficult days.  If you are tempted to think, “Yes, but that was then, and this is now,” remember who I AM!  Although you and your circumstances may change dramatically, I remain the same throughout time and eternity.  This is the basis of your confidence.  In My Presence you live and move and have your being.”

Nickelodeon Universe

{Photo 308/365} We went on a date today to Nickelodeon Universe, just the two of us.  We BOTH got wristbands to ride unlimited rides.  Any chance he gets, this is where he chooses to go — he absolutely LOVE this place.  He loves every ride…I would like to say I felt the same.  I did my best, but I’m getting a little too old for this — I guess I’m not, but my stomach and back are.  We had a blast, he got to hang with Spongebob do whatever he wanted to do — I just laughed with him, ran around with him, talked with him, and created a great memory.  We had a blast, I love this little nugget.  He’s such a bright light in my life.

A long walk, A long talk

{Photo 296/365}  This was a very much needed day for both of us.  A long walk, a long talk.  It was a beautiful day.  We started our walk on the berm; saw several alligators.  Then down the boardwalk through the mangroves.  Then a walk up the beach, the sun was warm, the breeze was just right, partially walking in the water and partially on the sand; barefoot.  Great friend, great conversation, great day. blessed.

VHS Movie Day

{Photo 290/365}  It’s been raining a lot — today was another day of rain.  He and I hung out in the movie theater and watched a couple of movies, older VHS movies.  Another simple day of quality time…

Addicted Games

{Photo 282/365}  There’s this website they like to play on — Addicted Games — Zach discovered a new game, Corporation Inc.  He’s building a company, it’s a factory with employees, janitors, and a human resources department.  They are watching it grow while we watch sunday night football.  It’s family time with the computers and the TV — we all had a great day, a very productive day.

Quiet Sunday

{Photo 268/365}  Weekends are the best — family time is priceless.  Quiet time, work out, lunch together, these two bonding looking through coins, nap, afternoon with friends…nothing planned, all random. perfect.

Walk

{Photo 250/365}  I needed some fresh air.  I needed to look at the sky.  I needed to just be.  So, this morning I went for a walk.  I drove to the lake, plugged into some beautiful piano music by David Nevue and walked.  I think I had a smile on my face the whole time.  I saw bright pretty flowers.  There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, it was a perfect morning.  When I finished my walk I rested.  When was the last time you just sat under a tree, and rested up against its trunk?  It had been so long for me, I couldn’t remember the last time.  So, that’s what I did.  I rested up against the tree trunk, looked out at the lake, sitting on acorns.  I didn’t think of the icky spiders creeping around, I didn’t think that maybe a dog did his business behind me or in the grass I was sitting in, I didn’t care if when I got up to leave my pants were damp from the dew of the morning, I just didn’t.  I loved my morning.  My time to reflect.  My time to just be.

Labor {edit} Day

{Photo 248/365}  Today I worked…had I been able to take the time over the past several days to focus on reviewing the copy edit for my book — I could’ve taken today off, after all — it IS Labor Day.  But, instead — I shelved the project to spend time with my husband and two little nuggets enjoying our last vacation of the summer.  It was worth it…we enjoyed Florida and quality time together!  This morning I got up on a mission to email the book off to the publisher before I went to bed — I started at noon, after my workout, and wrapped it up at 10:30.  Mission accomplished…one step closer to project completion.  Oh my goodness — the next time I see the book the pages will be formatted and it will actually look like a book — I can’t wait!  Happy Labor {edit} Day!

Corn Stalk

{Photo 235/365}  This afternoon we went for a walk.  Actually I power walked while he rode his bike.  I guess you could say we live out in the country — in a development, but surrounded by farm land.  So, as we walked, Zach noticed the development, the growth of the corn in the corn field.  He jumped off his bike, ran down with his hand stretched high and said, “They are taller than me now!”  Just a few short months ago, this field was dirt with standing water in areas and now it’s a maze of over 5 foot corn stalks.  His realization of this “growth” sparked great conversations for our walk.  He starts 6th grade in just 6 more sleeps — growth.  I love the free gift we can give one another, quality time, that’s his love language.

The Little Things

{Photo 187/365}  Quality time, that’s one of his primary love languages — today, he got a lot of it. Togetherness. Conversation. He calls it “alone time.”  We love to love on him the way he receives it best, he’s so special.  This evening, they grilled together {actually, Brent grilled and Zach swam} they enjoy just hanging and talking.  Nothing exciting, really, about today — just simple. lovely. great.
