Life is Precious

{Photo 229/365}  I was R E F L E C T I N G this morning –> 1 year ago today…I can’t believe time has gone by so quickly…life is SO precious…SO fragile…our time here is SO temporary…we must L I V E each day to it’s fullest…BE a light…love…forgive…show compassion –> We are celebrating your life today, Michelle Holmes…remembering YOU!! I know you’re dancing with Our Father, singing, riding horses, doing yoga, and eating chips and salsa in heaven.  The three of us met today to remember our friend — mexican style, her favorite — we had a great time.  laughing. sharing. connecting.

Card Collection

{Photo 220/365}  I cannot tell you how many times Zach has sorted through and organized the card collection he has.  He likes all sports — baseball, football, basketball, hockey — they’ve been in labeled plastic baggies sorted by team.  They’ve been in three ring binders, sorted by sport and position played, in sheet pocket protectors.  They’ve been thrown in boxes mixed all together.  Today he convinced his cousin it would be fun to organize them again.  So, that’s what these two did…watched the Twins game, sorted cards, and talked.  They are so dang cute — today the cards are going in little baggies to keep them organized.  Until next time…

Thy Word

{Photo 218/365} Today I headed to my friend’s cabin where 5 additional friends were too.  The 7 of us meet every Tuesday and this weekend was our “retreat.”  WOW — I’m so grateful that I was able to go.  Although the trip was shorter than I had initially thought, I had a great time.  Full of laughter. Lots of talking.  Prayer.  Encouragement.  Love.  God.  One of our conversations led us to discussing the words “plumb line” we looked it up in scripture and here’s what it says:

Amos 7:7-8, “Then he showed me another vision. I saw the Lord standing beside a wall that had been built using a plumb line. He was using a plumb line to see if it was still straight.  And the Lord said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I answered, “A plumb line.”  And the Lord replied, “I will test my people with this plumb line. I will no longer ignore all their sins.”

SO, what does that mean exactly?  My study Bible explains it this way…a plumb line is a device used to ensure the straightness of a wall.  A wall that is not straight will eventually collapse.  God wants people to be right with Him; He wants the sin that makes us crooked removed immediately.  God’s Word is the plumb line that helps us be aware of our sin.  How do you measure up to God’s plumb line?

Reflecting on how I measure-up.  I’m embracing His Grace. Mercy. Forgiveness. Love.

Finger Tricks

{Photo 216/365}  I love it when my nuggets discover new little thing about themselves.  He was showing his cousin all the cool tricks he can do with his fingers…wondering if she could do them too.  We’ve all been having so much fun, having Kendra here.  SO, of course, we were thrilled when she decided to re-book her flight and extend her trip to stay 3 more days!  family.

Girl-friends

{Photo 212/365}  I’m so grateful for the special friendships I have in my life.  Through ups and downs, thick and thin, good days and bad days, through tears and laughter…I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for these priceless gifts; girl-friends.  This weekend just happened to be packed with seeing girl-friends — it was an unexpected surprise, some last minute “get-to-gethers” that worked…God’s little blessing to me.  He knows exactly what I need when I need it. joy.  “True friendship is seen through the heart, not through the eyes.”

In Person

{Photo 195/365}  We met online January 26 through the Good Morning Girls Bible Study, less than 6 months ago. We email, we text.  We talk on the phone, we skype.  Today, we met in person — what a special day.  We’ve known from our first conversation that God wanted us to be friends and today, He made it even more clear.  He orchestrated a very special day for us.  We explored her “stomping ground” and I unexpectedly got to meet her two best friends.  We talked, a lot.  We laughed, a lot.  It was like we’d known each other for a lifetime.  But, this was our first time…in person.  We hugged.  I said good-bye.  Until next time friend…we will email, we will text.  We will talk on the phone, we will skype.  So blessed to have this special friend.  grateful.

Freedom

{Photo 185/365} It all started with the word ‘freedom’ – the word that stuck out to me while I was reading The Uncommon Woman back on May 14, 2009.  Now, 2 years later – July 4 – that’s ALL she wrote…it is DONE!  I wrapped up the last chapter of the book — with tears of JOY streaming down my face — WOW, just WOW! Happy 4th of July – Happy Independence Day – Happy Birthday USA! –> friends.  family.  sunset.  perfect day.  priceless gift. “Freedom is the oxygen of the soul.” ~Moshe Dayan

Rain or Shine

{Photo 176/365}  It rained pretty much the whole time.  I love how kids don’t care if the conditions are perfect, they can have a good time anyway.  Today we went to his end of the school year class party at his teachers house.  He had fun – seeing his classmates, swimming, jumping on the trampoline, playing air hockey, and hitting balls in the batting cage.  Such great families to connect with – rain or shine – I saw smiles everywhere.  I love days like today. simple fun.

Sweaty Day

{Photo 157/365}  We could not have picked a hotter day to venture out to Valleyfair.  2 mammas with 9 kiddos – I was dripping sweat from the minute we got out of the car.  Not a cloud in the sky mid-90′s.  We enjoyed the dry rides – then the water park – and these two little nuggets wrapped up the day riding the Wave and got drenched.  It was a blast.  Love being a mom and watching the kids laugh, run from ride to ride, giggle, scream, create memories…even if I’m hot, stinky, sweaty – it’s worth it!

Ice Cream Truck

{Photo 152/365}  The Pink Cow Ice Cream Truck came through the neighborhood at our friends house tonight — the kids heard it from blocks away and of course jumped with joy and excitement.  It brought back happy memories for me…I can remember the blue and white ice cream truck that came frequently through our neighborhood…I ran out to the street with all the kids and they each picked a treat.  I love nights like this.  BBQ. Friends. Kids Playing. Laughter. Relationship building.  summer.
