self-con·trol [self-kuhn-trohl] - noun; control or restraint of oneself or one’s actions, feelings, etc. – willpower

Living this character trait out in some areas of our lives is easier than others.  We’ve each got 6 areas of personal perspective: Relationships, Financial, Health and Wellness, Emotional, Spiritual, Professional.  Within each of these areas there comes thoughts, feelings, and certain attitudes.  We cannot control or change others, only ourselves.  Self-control is strength of character.  Maintaining balance in our lives; stability.  Living consistently and with discipline.  Self-control is daily remembering to accept the things we cannot change and then responding accordingly with ourselves and with those in our lives.

What areas of your life could use more of this character trait?

What accountability methods can you invite into your life that could help you develop this trait?

How can you renew your mind to quickly identify the “triggers” that prevent you from living a life of self-control?

1 Peter 1:13  ”So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.”

2 Peter 1:5-8  ”In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.” - Brian Tracy
