Listening In

{Photo 211/365}  He found us, my friend and I, watching the sunset in the sun room.  There were other places he could be, playing with his brother and friend, but he enjoys talking with adults — asking questions, learning, and being a part of adult conversations.  I was the same way growing up.  I can remember always wanting to spend time with my parents and their friends, even when the “fun” was happening elsewhere.  Of course there are times when it is not appropriate, but tonight we welcomed his company, his insight, his laughter, and his curiosity — listening in.  ”Whatever they grow up to be, they are still our children, and the one most important of all the things we can give to them is unconditional love. Not a love that depends on anything at all except that they are our children.” - Rosaleen Dickson
