3in30 Check In: March 4, 2011

I’m HERE, checking in!!  I am SO encouraged this week; focused and productive. whoot. whoot.  Here’s my update:

Personal – Goal 1 – Write Daily.  I have a new deadline for the book, a new publication date with the publisher.  My desire is to meet this deadline, to accomplish that, I need to carve out time everyday to write.  I can do THIS!

{UPDATE}  I put together a writing schedule for each of my chapters and I’m on track!  By midnight tonight I will be emailing a chapter over to my editing ‘peeps’ – tomorrow I will start working on the next chapter.  God has really got His hand in this, He is giving me the words…I am so encouraged!

Relationships – Goal 2 – “Seek to understand, rather than to be understood.”  That is what I want to focus in all my relationships, especially with my husband and my boys.  Understanding.

{UPDATE}  This is really going well.  Instead of getting defensive, I’m asking open ended questions to clearly understand.  I am truly seeking to understand.  Doesn’t mean I like everything, but at lease I’m understanding and can work through things more effectively.

Emotional – Goal 3 – Finish reading The Me I Want to Be – by John Ortberg <– loving it…almost done.  And finish reading Fearless – by Max Lucado <– started it…loving it!  I’ve got these two books going, I want to finish them – they ecourage, empower, educate.

{UPDATE}  I’m getting through The Me I Want to Be every chance I get.  SO thought provoking.

I’m looking forward to the days ahead as I continue to focus on productivity.

I want to leave you with this, as I giggled when I read it.  It’s an example of turning the other cheek; it reminds me of my humanness.  I am grateful for my faults and what God teaches me through them. If people want to talk about them? oh well…

“If you hear that someone is speaking ill of you, instead of trying to defend yourself u should say: “He obviously does not know me very well, since there are so many other faults he could have mentioned” ~Epictetus

I stole your quote as my status on FB – LOVE IT! You have great goals. I like how you broke them down into areas. The writing schedule is an excellent idea-now make sure you keep to it. I love the idea of asking open ended questions and may try to incorporate that myself. I’ve never heard of the books – but I’ve read others by Max Lucado. Keep up the good work!

AWESOME =) I don’t have the workbook, I would LOVE to get it tho – was thinking it would be a GREAT one to do for a book club/study. Thank you for the encouragement and for the feedback on the books.

So far so good…….keeping it positive and surrendering my will frequently {laziness, procrastination, distractions} SO many things to trip us UP!! ugh.

Love the quote! Great job on your goals and I wish you well as you write your chapters! I received Fearless for Christmas, but haven’t dove into it yet. Max Lucado is one of my favorite authors. Have a great weekend!

Thank YOU Janet!! I really like Max Lucado too, I’ve heard mixed reviews on the book, but I’m liking what I’ve read so far. =)
